Terms of service
Last updated September 4, 2026. These terms cover the Shortsmark website, iPhone app, and Share Extension.
Google Play subscriptions
Android subscriptions are billed by Google Play and renew automatically at the price and monthly or yearly interval shown before purchase. Cancel in Google Play subscription settings before renewal to avoid the next charge. Deleting your Shortsmark account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Refunds follow Google Play policies and applicable law.
Agreement and your account
You must be at least 14 to create an account. If you have not reached the legal age to agree where you live, you may use the service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. You are responsible for securing your Apple or Google sign-in and activity under your account.
The service
Shortsmark automatically generates cited notes from public links, uploaded documents, or pasted text. An artifact generated from a public link may be reused for accounts that submit that same public source. Uploaded and pasted artifacts are private to the submitting account, are never reused across accounts, and cannot be publicly shared.
Material you may submit
Only submit material you own, are licensed or authorized to use, or are otherwise legally permitted to have Shortsmark process. Public availability alone does not give you permission.
You must comply with the copyright law that applies to you. Do not submit material that infringes copyright or any other right of another person — including a work you have simply found online, or a copy shared with you for a different purpose.
You must also follow applicable source-platform terms. You may submit confidential information or third-party personal information only when you have authority and a lawful basis for the requested processing. If you act for an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind it.
Limited permission to process
To the extent you own or control the necessary rights, you grant Jadonglab a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, process, and format the material only as needed to operate and secure Shortsmark and generate and display your requested note. Ownership does not transfer, and this license does not permit model training or fine-tuning.
Private original file bytes are not stored. Permission for full extracted text ends on successful processing, terminal failure, or retry expiry; short exact citation quotes remain as part of the generated note.
AI output and citations
Automatically generated notes may be inaccurate or incomplete and are not professional legal, financial, medical, or safety advice. Verify important matters. A private-source citation displays its stored short exact quote and, when available, PDF page; the original file cannot be reopened or downloaded.
Acceptable use and repeat infringement
You may not submit material for an unlawful or infringing purpose; bypass authentication or usage limits; attack the service; automate access beyond normal use; or resell access without permission. Jadonglab may restrict access to protect the service or address legal risk and may suspend or terminate repeat infringers or accounts that repeatedly submit material without a valid rights or lawful-use basis.
See the copyright policy for the report process.
Plans, credits, and deletion
A private note uses one credit while processing or ready; terminal failures are excluded. Identical normalized content in the same account and output language reuses that account’s existing note. Deleting a private note permanently removes its content but does not refund the credit already used.
Plus and Pro renew monthly or yearly until canceled. Polar Checkout shows taxes, fees, renewal frequency, and the total before payment authorization. Account deletion is not the same as canceling a subscription or requesting a refund.
Seller, payment, cancellation, and refunds
Subscriptions bought on the web are intended for customers in the Republic of Korea and United States. Polar Software, Inc. acts as merchant of record and authorized reseller and handles payment, tax, receipts, and transaction records. Jadonglab activates access after payment confirmation. Ordinary cancellation stops the next renewal and access continues through the paid period.
Withdrawal, refund, or billing-dispute requests may be made through the Polar receipt or customer portal, support@polar.sh, or dkim@jadonglab.com. Requests are handled under applicable law, the Polar Buyer Terms, and card-network rules without limiting mandatory consumer rights. Account deletion first requests that renewal stop and then ends access immediately; it does not itself issue a refund.
In-app purchases on iPhone
A subscription bought inside the Shortsmark iOS app is an Apple in-app purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase, and it renews at the same price for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel it in your Apple Account subscription settings; deleting the app does not cancel it.
Apple is the seller for these purchases and handles their receipts and refunds, so a refund request goes to Apple rather than to Jadonglab or Polar. Canceling does not refund the remaining time in the current period. One subscription is active per account, so an App Store subscription and a Polar subscription cannot run at the same time. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription — cancel it yourself in Apple Account subscription settings.
Providers and privacy
Shortsmark uses Apple, Google Cloud/Firebase, Supadata, OpenRouter, DeepInfra, Google Vertex AI, and Polar for authentication, hosting, public-link extraction, AI generation, and billing, including the Apple App Store for purchases made inside the iOS app. See the Privacy Policy for processing and international-transfer details.
Liability, law, and contact
The service is provided “as is” to the extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted, Jadonglab is not liable for indirect damages. Korean law applies and Seoul courts have jurisdiction where an exclusive choice is permitted, without limiting mandatory consumer rights.
